Today was the first day of teaching for the students. It was very exciting for all of us....I couldn’t wait to get back in the classroom either. I was so very proud of all of them. I was able to spend some time observing and interacting with the children. They are so curious of us and ask lots of questions. The first graders had lots to ask and tell. Alex and Karly implemented an awesome lesson plan to the fourth grade. They modeled, gave clear and slow directions and even spoke some Italian while teaching. The children were fully engaged and really enjoyed learning “All about Me”! Looking forward to tomorrow where we will visit a High School in town.

Today was another day full of shopping, venturing and yes walking.
We all had breakfast and then headed out to see more of Roma. After a full day of exploring we had a nice “Familia” dinner. We all are getting use to the city and enjoying the food, culture, and each others company. Ciao for now... Packing is complete and I am on my way to the airport. I was able to meet some of the parents and ease some anxiety about their children traveling thousands of miles away without them. Flight to Philly was a sauna, but all I heard was chatting and laughing of my crew. We spent several hours at the Philly airport waiting for our Rome fight to eats. We landed in F terminal and needed to go to A terminal which was on the other end of the airport. Needless to say we were all tired and hungry by the time with arrived at our gate. As I sit here crafting my first blog I realize how very lucky I am to be escorting this wonderful group of students. They are all so unique in their own ways and it is pretty neat to see the trip through their eyes. I am so excited to see what the weeks ahead bring. Ciao for now...See you in Rome
