From the moment we landed in Rome after a *very* long day of traveling, I could not wait to have my first taste of fresh, authentic Italian cuisine, and boy, it did not disappoint. Everything is so fresh and delicious, and the enthusiasm radiates from chefs and servers when food is presented to you.
So far, I have tried carbonara, cacio e pepe, bucatini all’amatriciana, marghertia pizza (a current staple in my Buffalo diet), caprese salad, bruschetta, and a large variety of sweet treats! This was my first time trying carbonara and I absolutely loved it. It was perfectly creamy, and the texture of the bucatini shaped noodle was wonderful! In the past I have always preferred my noodles cooked “well done,” but I am since a changed woman and adore al dente pasta. For those of you who do not know me personally, I have a huge sweet-tooth. If there is a bakery within walking distance, it will be visited. Growing up watching Unique Sweets on The Cooking Channel with my mom, turned me into a “dessertie”. There is nothing quite like the feeling of a little sweet-treat after a hardy meal, or any time of day really. Between gelato with Rachael and Jen on our first night here (not pictured), I had a donut-like treat with a white angle cream that absolutely knocked my socks off and I also had a cannoli after some sight-seeing adventures with Rachael and Cameron. However, the star of the trip thus far was tiramisu - not too sweet, not too bitter, just perfecto! And I will be getting it again when we return to Rome! As we move on to our next leg of the trip, I am looking forward to trying so many new foods in Torremaggiore! This has already been such an amazing experience and I cannot wait to see what is in store for us starting tomorrow! Ciao for now!

Si parte! With less than 24 hours until we depart, I’ve started thinking of some of the things I’m most looking forward to; besides seeing Vatican City, and every possible tourist attraction, I am also really looking forward to deep diving into Italian culture! Trying new foods, meeting locals, and experiencing Italy for all that it is, is what I am anticipating the most!
Being only one of a few secondary education majors on this trip, I am super eager to get into the classrooms and learn from my elementary education classmates. This experience will be so meaningful, and the unique opportunity that I have for the coming weeks will be one that I take with me forever. Of course, I have probably over packed..... but all in good fun! I am so beyond excited to get to the airport tomorrow and get the adventure started! Ciao for now! |
AuthorCiao! I’m a senior in the Mathematics Education 7-12 program. I love experiencing different cultures, trying new things, and traveling; this will be my first time in Europe! I have a passion for TESOL in my American classroom placements, and I am so excited to learn about the Italian education system! In my free time, I love to read, and I am also on the Buffalo State Pom Dance Team. I can’t wait to bring my Italian experience into my own future classroom and bring a Secondary Education lens to this cohort! ArchivesCategories |
