Today we hopped the Greenline, a double Decker bus that for 16 Euros, takes us to various famous sites in In and about Rome. You get to hear the guides rendition of such famous places as the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish steps, The Cassel St Angelo and the Vatican, among other places. It had been decided by the group that they wanted to focus on the Vatican. Despite the slight drizzle, we were left of about three blocks from the basilica. This did not dishearten any of us, we made our way to the line that awaited us in order to get into the basilica, and waited about 40 minutes till we went through security and into the church. It was wonderful having Catie and Simone with us as they were able to give us all some insights into the Pita and other famous works of art that reside there. We did break up for a while and investigated some of the art works that caught our eye-- as well as the magnificent Fresh that is erected in the Basilica this time of year. Later we purchased tickets to the Vatican Museum and walked to that site -- about a 20 minute walk behind the Basilica. There we focused on the Sistine Chapel. Michelangelo' painting of the final judgment is awesome. It has recently been restored to its original colors using the same pigmentation that was used by Michelangelo. I recall having seen this wall years ago when the impact of time had made it seem almost monochromatic. I think the restorers did a great job. It's a match for other of Michelangelo's paintings on the Chapel ceiling. The Vatican and the Museum took up the better part of our day. We did hope the bus again around 4:30 and viewed Rome lit up at night.

Arrived in Rome as scheduled on KLM. The van service that has been reserved was waiting for us at Flumicino. So I can say that getting here went without a hitch. We were really tired by the time we Arrived at the Hotel Orlando, so it wasn't surprising that everyone opted for a short rest before going out on the town. Out first stop when we did go out ( about 5PM Italy time) was to a restaurant suggested by the proprietor of the Orlando Everyone ordered some type of pasta or pizza and then we went for a vary long walk Below you can see that we were all feeling pretty happy about the way things turned out the first day away from home. Our walk tonight took us to the Coliseum. I have to admit that while I have been. At this site several times before in my life, I have never seen it all lit up at night. The Arch of Constantine, not far from the Colosseum was flanked by a. beautifully lit. Christmas tree. Gelata is a must even after a great meal
Georgio's Limo is picking Cindy Chatoo, Mary Shea and I at my place on the way to Buffalo State where the group will be waiting. Nice of the Limo service to do that so we don't have to worry about car issues. Cindy came in last night. She is rightfully excited about the new adventure she is about to embark upon. Everything is set and I hope all goes as planned. See you later.
Still working out details for the trip with the International office.
Carla and I need to get our insurance at Moot hall but we're still waiting for the forms we need from the International office so that we can get then. I met with Ashley today to discuss a research project that has great potential for publication down the line. She has been having some problems getting on the blogging site. if she cannot get on , I'll call Weebly for help. I must remember to call the limo service to get the time of departure from outside Bacon on January 3rd. Will Email/text all travelers to make sure they bring their passport and a few Euros. I also need to get in touch with Dr. Limone from the University of Foggia so we can solidify a partnership. So much to do still while getting ready for Christmas. At this meeting Carla presented some activities that can be done with the youngest of children at San Giovanni Bosco... ideas on how to teach numbers, color words, animal names etc.
